A GUITAR signed by rock band INXS will be auctioned to raise funds for Ulladulla’s Will Chapman who is awaiting a heart and double lung transplant.
Bids will be taken for the white Fender Electric Bullet Squire guitar throughout the month of August with monies raised to assist 20-year-old Will and his family.
The guitar, signed by Kirk Pengilly, the Farriss brothers – Tim, Andrew and Jon – Garry Beers and new vocalist Ciaran Gribbon, was given to Ulladulla’s Sue Cross to be auctioned by the Milton-Ulladulla Panthers Football Club.
Club president Rod Kain said the auction would be run via the Panthers’ email: info@mufc.net.au
He hopes the community will throw its support behind Will who has played soccer since he was a young boy.
“I coached him and his two sisters and his family has a strong association with the club,” Rod said.
“When he was in high school, Will was in charge of the cadet referees and he has coached the Premiers team.”
Rod said he has already had interest in the guitar, with offers over $2,000, and told the Times some older fans may dig deep to have it hanging on their wall.
One of the world’s great rock bands, INXS has sold more than 30 million records and received countless awards from their peers over the past 25 years.
The death of lead singer Michael Hutchence in November 1997 came as a massive shock to fans, however the band has gone on to reform and has had lead singer Ciaran Gribbon on board since 2011.
The Panthers’ ‘tuck-shop lady’, Sue said Will’s story had “struck a chord” with Kirk who happily gave her the guitar to be auctioned.
“He’s right behind the fundraiser,” she said.
“Kirk knows about Will’s condition and was pleased to be able to help out his family.”
Will remains in hospital and his parents have given up their jobs to stay in Sydney by his side until organ donors are
found.

Hi Mike,
Just a note to thank you for including our story of Will Chapman on your website. Will is a wonderful young man. Not only is he facing a daunting health problem, he is one of the most selfless young people you could hope to meet. I contact him as often as possible and he never makes any comments about the unfairness of his predicament; rather he is more concerned with other people’s health and needs.
He is delighted to think that his story has made it to a US website, as are we all. How wonderful it would be if we were to receive a bid or two from over there. If someone would, we will look into the fees required to deliver it to them and do our best to cover them.
I thank you once more for your contact with us and hope to be in contact again.
Kind regards,
Sue Cross
