- Model/Stylename: 1651

- Description: Very comfortable neck, but has that slightly plastic-y sound. Not a lot of warmth, but in those days it was THE brand for acoustic-electric guitars. Obviously, Ovation was kind of a pioneer of that concept, so it was state of the art for its time. I bought it for live gigs so I wouldn’t have to stand in front of a guitar mic anymore.

Always loved my Ovation, they are nice guitars and at the time I bought it they were ahead of their time in terms of plugging directly into a PA. You used to see lots of top stars use them on stage. Cat Stevens, Glen Campbell, Peter Frampton, Paul McCartney, etc. Lots of guitar makers have since adopted that style. Mine doesn’t have the super-shallow bowl, but I’ve seen them and they are comfortable–I always thought the large bowl on mine was kind of awkward.
