Is is just me, or does it suddenly seem like spammers are joining this site and sending private messages and/or posting comments about buying guitars in my collection that clearly aren’t for sale…this isn’t an online guitar retail outlet last I checked.
I’d bet if you said yes and you wanted a thousand the scammer would say great deal. Just send me the change from this 2000 money order I happened to have and mail the guitar to a PO Box somewhere.
It is a frequent routine lately with collector cars. People either readilly agree to buy from a distance and then pay with a phoney but very realistic money order just happening to need a bunch of change or offer a car deal too good to be true. I alerted our local paper after seeing a pattern of a few cars with pics such as a 1969 Camaro Z28 for 5000 in excellant shape. I answered one by email and they wanted the money wired to one city before they would ship the car from another city. The phone number area code was a third city and they had a throw away free email address from one of the major free email services.
