Axvault Talks with Dick Bouch, from Martin Guitars at summer NAMM 2011.
xvault: “We have a particular audience at Axvault.com. They are a serious group of players who also collect. What does Martin have for the higher end market players?”
DB: “We have a number of new products. Most people are aware of our all mahogany guitars. Style 15 and style 17 guitars really emerged during the depression when times were so tough Martin (guitars) that Martin decided to scale back the price of the instruments to a price level people could afford in hard times. And so the all mahogany models emerged without bindings and without fancy inlays like the one you were just trying”
Burly Guitars- Very Unique. Probably the most interesting innovative guitars you will find today
Jeff says he came up with the idea originally from his hand-made wooden turkey calls. That right, Jeff not only is a guitar builder and hunter but a transcendent wood craftsman. That is how he has made a living for past thirty years. His turkey calls he made with a diaphragm to get the sound he wanted. When asked if those turkey calls were any good he replied, “I never used it”. But people who did use them have said they worked well.
NAMM 2011 Epiphone Night Hawk Reissue
NAMM 2011 PRESS RELEASE: Like its parent company Gibson, Epiphone is known for several classic designs, guitars that established themselves as iconic in the 1950s and ’60s.
But the company has continued to grow steadily ever since coming into the Gibson fold in 1957, and many new designs of the late 20th and early 21st century have earned a status as ‘modern classics’ right alongside the vintage models from the company’s golden years. The Nighthawk is certainly one of these.
